AlmanzaBefore he retired, Eduardo Almanza wanted to try something different. He had been working in the insurance industry after spending 37 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Aero-Medical Technician and he was looking for a change of pace.

“I decided to become a substitute teacher on the suggestion of my wife,” Eduardo said. “She worked in the Lawrence School District for 37 years before her retirement.”

After deciding to give substitute teaching a try, Eduardo joined the MHED team.

“What I like most about being a substitute teacher is working with and helping students with their daily assignments.”
Eduardo believes his students like his honesty.

“They like being treated with respect as well as being able to interact with me when they have a question or concern,” he said.

When he’s not working, Eduardo enjoys reading, listening to music, photography, swimming, dancing, biking, weightlifting and, most of all, traveling to Chicago with his wife to visit his children Amber and Aaron and his grandchildren.

Eduardo was chosen as our Sub of the Month because he works all the time and in multiple schools and districts. He works just about every day and is willing to pick up and go just about anywhere. Eduardo always gets great feedback from the teachers and is such a positive person every time he calls MHED. Thank you, Eduardo, for all you do. The MHED team appreciates you!
