Angela Hunt
Program Director

As Program Director for Morgan Hunter Education, Angela is somewhat of an operational guru—not only managing the day-to-day needs of her team but developing effective partnerships with both substitute teachers and school districts. She has more than 20 years of experience in management and higher education, and brings a reservoir of knowledge to the team.

After earning her bachelor’s in public relations from Northwest Missouri State University, Angela attended Grantham University for a master's degree in performance improvement. She’s the perfect mix of cheerful and hard-working, doing everything in her power for her team and clients.

Angela is married with two children, and the family loves to travel. With previous trips to Costa Rica, the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, she’s always working on building her collection of passport stamps. When she isn’t traveling, Angela enjoys anything active – from walking to swimming – and knows her way around the kitchen.

Brad Whitsell
Staffing Specialist

With a mind for great customer service and a dash of out-of-the-box thinking, Brad easily makes personal connections with his clients and strives to find placements that are unique to them. He views his work as more than a 9 to 5, and knows the profound impact substitute teachers have in students’ lives.

Originally from St. Joseph, Missouri, Brad attended Northwest Missouri State University for elementary education and educational leadership. After graduation, he spent 10 years in higher education in residential life and academic advising before making the switch back to K-12 education with Morgan Hunter.

Brad is married to a first-grade teacher, with whom he shares two daughters and a dog. Having completed two of his life goals – running a marathon and completing the entire Insanity workout – Brad is currently working on his next ambition: meeting Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons.

Nicki Thompson
Staffing Specialist

Nicki believes in getting to know the substitute teachers she works with—not just placing them in any school, but finding them a classroom she knows will be a great fit. Her meticulous attention to detail and superhuman organizational skills make her prepared to meet any challenge head-on, and she’s devoted to the success of her team and the clients with whom she works.

Nicki earned a degree in office administration from West Virginia State University and has prior experience as an elementary school secretary, which means she knows the day-to-day demands of a school setting inside and out. She knows how important substitute teachers are for Kansas City schools and what qualifications make for a successful partnership.

Outside of Morgan Hunter, Nicki likes to feed her adventurous side with kayaking and white-water rafting, and she and her husband, Jason, also enjoy spending time with their two grown children.

Allison Kirch
Staffing Specialist

Allison gets substitute teachers: With a degree from NWMSU in elementary and early childhood education – and a couple of years in front of the classroom herself – she understands the demands (and the incredible passion) of teachers. After working as a teacher and classroom paraprofessional in various Kansas City area districts, Allison joined the Education team as a staffing specialist.

Not one to be sidetracked from her goals, Allison is as hard-working as she is cheerful, bringing a breath of fresh air to the team—even in the early mornings to fill last-minute assignments. Building strong partnerships with school districts and recruiting talented substitute teachers who make a difference for local children are what drive Allison’s passion for her role at Morgan Hunter.

As a devoted mother of three young boys (and therefore a Disney aficionado), Allison is a family-oriented and caring individual. She nurtures her inner travel bug and has traveled to both London and Paris twice, with plans for additional destinations in the future.

Emily Martinez
Staffing Specialist

Education is at the heart of everything Emily does. Whether she’s assisting students or those who strive to lead a classroom, Emily has a passion for helping others learn and thrive.

As a graduate from UMKC, Emily earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in 2005 and then a master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance in 2012. Before beginning as a staffing specialist at Morgan Hunter Education, Emily spent nine years working as an elementary school counselor, first in Kansas and then in Missouri. With first-hand knowledge of our local districts, Emily can prepare substitute teachers of all skillsets for any classroom setting. As a people person, Emily truly cares about the people she works with. She finds strength in collaboration and creating a positive environment for the substitute teachers she works with.

Emily is married with two children and three dogs. Not only does she have a knack for helping others grow, but Emily also has a green thumb and enjoys gardening, too. In her free time, she likes watching movies, spending time with her family and listening to music.
