Congratulations to Mary Plowman, our January Substitute of the Month! Mary has worked with Morgan Hunter since 2020 and has been an outstanding substitute teacher. She regularly picks up assignments independently, keeps her availability up to date, and has successfully completed several long-term assignments. She is highly regarded by teachers and has received over 100 five-star ratings. Mary truly makes a difference in every classroom she serves.
Mary has been married for forty years, and they have one son and one daughter. Their family has grown to include two wonderful granddaughters, ages eleven and twelve, who bring them great joy. She cherishes spending time with her family and especially enjoys watching Chiefs football and KU sports with them.
She never imagined herself becoming a substitute teacher until a friend from back home encouraged her to try it. What began as a suggestion quickly became a deeply rewarding experience—one she has never regretted. It is especially meaningful to her when former students make a point to visit, and she finds great joy in watching them grow into kind, productive adults.
She believes that arriving at school early and allowing plenty of time to review lesson plans is essential to having a successful day. Building strong relationships with teachers and staff is equally important, helping to create not only wonderful days at school but also memorable and fulfilling school years.
