We chose to honor Cindy Jones as December’s Sub of the Month! Cindy works hard every day, picks up jobs without being asked, and is always flexible- switching jobs at the last minute to help the school with their greatest needs that day. Since 2018, she’s done so much for Morgan Hunter and our districts, and we are so excited for you to learn more about her!

Cindy Jones is a retired teacher who dedicated 34 years to teaching in McLouth, Kansas. After retiring, she continued her passion for education by serving as a substitute teacher for 13 years in Tonganoxie. Her husband, Robin, is a retired insurance agent. Together, they have two children: a daughter, Abbie, who homeschools their two grandchildren, and a son, Eli, who is a teacher in the Kansas City, Kansas school district.

Cindy enjoys crocheting as a hobby and also teaches crochet lessons in her spare time. She chose to become a substitute teacher because she still loves working with children but wanted greater flexibility in her schedule. She especially enjoys the challenge of teaching elementary classes.

Some of her most memorable experiences include receiving countless hugs, being given beautiful artwork by students, and walking into upper elementary classrooms to be greeted with, “I’m glad it’s you!” She advises substitute teachers that flexibility is key to having a successful day and that they should follow the teacher’s plans and schedule as closely as possible. She also encourages substitutes not to hesitate to ask other teachers or administrators for help when needed.

Thank you Cindy for all you do!
