Every month, we highlight one of our staff members so you can get to know the MHED team a little bit better. This month we spoke with Carol Schmidt!

Tell us about your family and your background.

My husband and I have 2 kids and I have been at Morgan Hunter for 22 years. I came to Morgan Hunter when we moved to the KC metro area, for them to assist me in finding a job in Human Resources. I ended up joining the MH team and love the recruiting industry.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Attending and following our kid’s activities, reading, exercise/work out, volunteering in the community, going back to my parent’s farm, and traveling when we can!

What have been some of your biggest accomplishments in life thus far?

I am pretty proud of my career at Morgan Hunter. It took me a few years to find/figure out what I wanted to do, but discovered Recruiting and it is a great match for me. With my colleague Julie Davis, we have built teams and divisions here at Morgan Hunter and have enjoyed seeing that growth!

Tell us a brief history of MHED and your involvement with its creation.

In 2005, I had a friend who was a school superintendent. He knew what I did at MH, and we started discussing substitute staffing and his needs within the school district. After several months of talking and setting up a program, we began a pilot program with the Eudora School District in February of 2006. That was very successful, and in the summer of 2006, the De Soto School District joined the MHED program. We have steadily been growing and adding more districts each year. It has been fun to see the division grow and perfect our program and services to substitute teachers and school districts.

What is something you enjoy about being a part of MHED?

I love getting to visit with school districts and meeting the substitute teachers. I don’t get to do that as much as I did but enjoy it when I do.

What is one thing you would like substitute teachers to know about you?

I appreciate and admire the job substitute teachers do every day. I went to Emporia State University to be an Elementary School Counselor. After an Intro to Teaching, and observing two classrooms, I went to my advisor and said, I need to change majors! Substitute Teachers are so good at what they do, and are so important to the success of our schools!
